Listening to great music with a lover can be an incredible bonding experience, creating fond memories to last a lifetime. But what do you do if your loved one won’t open their mind to new music? Listening to iconic songs of the past is a great thing, however, never introducing new songs into the mix can leave your music experience feeling stale.

If you find new music you love, try playing it at a non-invasive time where your lover will be present. A good time would be after work, while you’re cooking dinner. Background music will not be overpowering, and will be a good introduction to a new song. Perhaps they will comment on the song and you can strike up a conversation. If not, you could mention how you love it and ask what they think?

With new things like music players and music websites, a fun thing to do could be to build a playlist together. Both of you could add your favorite songs, new or old, and then listen to them while having a glass of wine and chatting. The best part, is that this is a fun activity to do together. If you don’t tend to agree on music choices, this is also a good method to compromise.
